Laser exhaust MOT probs?

BLUEDOG

Guest
anyone else had trouble with their laser exhaust for mot? mine is not kite marked but has past the previous mots at the same garage. in the end i had to have an advisory saying that it is 'blowing but not excessively noisy'.
has the mighty EU released a new batch of ballcocks?

It doesn't have to be BSI Kite marked or even E marked to pass an MOT these days. It's up to the tester's discretion to establish that it's not significantly more noisy than an OE system in good condition.

Having said that, in order to comply with Constructions and Use Regulations, your exhaust does need to be stamped withe BSAU 193 or an E mark or have the OE manufacturers name on it.

It sounds like a bit of ill thought out back covering on the part of the tester.....:nenau
