Nippy Norman sells some neat little, flat, lash-down eyes that are ideal for putting in places to secure stuff to your bike when travelling etc.
They're okay for small, narrow straps but I wanted some wider, bigger ones to take a broad strap.
I contacted Mark Hooton of this parish and he made me a couple based on the Nippy Norman style but in stainless-steel as opposed to aluminium.
The NN type is in the middle:
Top man Mark.
It solves my long-term problem of lashing my 90 litre Ortleib, full of camping gear, over the pillion seat. In the past I've just put the straps through the grab-handle, that leaves the bag secure in that it won't fall off but it does slide about a bit.
I removed the grab-handle and mounted the eyes using the holes left in the seat surround.
The eye can be swivelled around to suit.
Cheers Mark. I may need some more to fit on the panniers of my K75 for the same purpose.
It's a much better solution than bungees.
