Hi , every one looking for some information from the people in the know.
What I'd like to know is do the last of the hex head twin cam bikes still suffer from the fuel strip problems & the fuel pump controller failure .

Thanks
Ian.

Nope because from the tc model onwards they don't have a fuel strip but a proper fuel sender, as for the fpc failure I haven't heard of many because by 2010 they were either better specced or improved quality

The ring antenna also got an upgrade in 2008, so is probably more reliable than those fitted to earlier models.

Well I hope so, because I don’t carry a spare....;)

The bikes which come off the production line at the end of a production run, have usually got all the minor faults ironed out through modification. So should be more reliable. :nenau

I've had 8 Twin Cams (GSA's and RT's) never had a fuel related issue, I had a new rear final drive on one of the GSA's after 77k and a new set of tyre pressure sensors on my 2013 RT (current one), I did buy a WC GSA and then traded in back in for another TC after 2 months. Give me a TC over every single BMW engine ever made. They're amazingly easy to do the maintenance on, I do ALL fluids every 5k, get BMW to do the brake fluid once a year and never touch the valves unless something feels a miss, if properly serviced they're very very reliable bikes.

Some of the early twin cams had fuel strips, my 2010 Adv did and I had to replace it once.

I had a 'mark 1' 2004 for 11 years. No fuel strip problem. I now have a 2008. So far so good, but I am only 2 months into ownership! :-)

AFAIK early bikes had float type fuel sender. Mines a 55 plate and has a float sender. I think it was later bikes that had the fuel strip sender (that didn't send most of the time). :)
