Does anyone know if this later yoke 2008 fits the 2005 GS reason been it has better risers which can be adjusted for reach instead of the moulded in type :nenau

I don't see why not. Everything else that mounts to it is the same. But don't quote me on that ................................

Isn't it a bit extreme changing the top clamp when there are several riser manufacturers out there offering differing styles & types?

The Adv risers are tall and offer two positions. But the difference forwards or back is minimal. Rox style risers in the standard GS top yoke would probably be more useful and you can get various height (length) options. You probably won't be able to fit the Rox anti-vibe risers as these need about 1" clearance below the handlebar. They do work on the GSA but lift about 2" which for me was too much of a boost.

The only way to be 100% sure the yokes will interchange is to try them.

Ahh but I wana make my own risers or poss fit rubbers into the yoke itself if it's solid ? :thumb

The GSA yoke is hollow so even if you TIG welded the bolt holes and recut the yoke, you probably don't have enough "meat" to carry rubber mounted endure bar clamps.

A custom mounting plate onto the existing bolt holes with mounting grommets made from 70 Duro Sorbothane sheet could give enough vibe isolation. BUT fixing the new bar clamps to the new plate so they avoid the mounting bolts and washers is an issue. I faffed about with templates but never got to cutting metal. See what you can come up with.

Fasstco Flexx bars are probably the best answer but you'll need a small mortgage. They also sell tuned mass dampers that will fit the GS bars.

I baulked at the costs because I have no way to test ride the products. The BMW with its horizontal vibes probably needs Flexx bars AND the tuned mass dampers to really sort the engine vibration. $360 for bars, plus $60 for inserts works out at £250 plus VAT and delivery.

Same as my conclusion expensive bars & unusual snakes dampers etc, some say it's better to fill bars with silicone ?

Talking about vibes done 232 miles yesterday did have to get off half way

The bars could be filled with lead shot. But the bike is heavy enough already.

My old Yamaha was unpleasant at mway speeds but vibes were no worse at bar end than at bar clamps (steel tube handlebars). I suspect the alloy GS bars actually amplify the vibration. A cross brace does help, though not much.
