Englandsbåten

Still not confirmed

Different representatives of the company are giving different details. Could be a marketing stratagy to whip in venture capital, or could just be wishfull thinking. Could also be that these people should not be trusted with a peddleboat on a lake.

I can't understand how one could loose money on a UK - Norway service, but it probably too seasonable, and airfares are very cheap for tourists.

Fingers crossed

you can fly from Aberdeen to Bergen for £150 ish!!! On a recent flight I counted 88 seats on this plane. If the plane is full at this price £150x88 - £13,200!!! Take the seats out, take 25 bikes @ £ 528 each return - £13,200. It's easy, there is a demand!!!!! The weight of the cargo, same as full plane inc luggage?? This must be a very good opportunity for a cargo flight operator. Am I missing something here??

(Where's "Pertshire" ?

The passenger flights are running half full, at best. Do the research, I have!! 22 people going out recently, 18 on the return flight. I had a chat with the crew, including the guys flying the plane. Great idea was the reply!! One flight a week from UK airport, June to September. Newcastle, great for me in Perthshire!! I happen to think you would (or less - still make money)get 25 bikes, no problem!!! We have to be positive, look and ask question. Successful business people do this type of thing all the time. The oil industry is flying gear to Norway, return, food for thought!!

I looked at the Harwich route yesterday , all ok TILL you go to the cabin booking bit
SO in 4 weeks time it,s an overlander for me then down to t tunnel or ferry:rolleyes:

If it's too much consider Harwich to Hook holland, but still lots of miles/time, but cheaper.

Norway last year was fantastic, went the hook route due to DFDS ferry bringing fecked as it crashed into Harwich harbour, so I took a route up via holland & Germany into Denmark, and returned esbjerg / Harwich.

I'd suggest use DFDS, it's more money, but factor in the long ride via Calais and it's loads of pointless miles - you want your time in Norway not on a motorway/autobahn.

I went last year to Norway and took an overnight ferry from Kiel to Gothenburg (Stenaline). It wasn't too expensive and helped break up the journey.
