Due to operator error I have had a bit of a couple of days.

Yesterday l left a hotel on my 1200GS and obviously did not make sure my vario topbox was secure. A mile up the road and I hear a bang, look in my mirror to see said topbox disappearing down the road. The whole lot is strewn all over the place. Lucky it was early in the morning and on a backroad so I was able to rescue all. The box re-fitted but was badly damaged.

So - today I go to a delaer to pick up a new topbox, stop for a jimmy riddle on the way, put the side stand out, just about to dis-mount but too late, parked slightly downhill so side stand retracted and caused me to go down in a slow motion heap. One hernia later I picked it up.

I reckon I am pretty lucky as only seem to have the crashbar damaged.

They say bad luck comes in three so I think I will stay inside for the next week. But there again it was not bad luck just stupidity all round.

Unlucky however it could of been worse, I dropped mine outside On Yer Triumph, nye on full forecourt of people:( needless to say I didnt take my Crash helmet off!!!:blast

I dropped mine only about a month after buying it ( and the day before my engine bars arrived ) in my works carpark with all my workmates watching , I forgot to take the disc lock off :blast

Mine came off sidestand on my driveway and I'd had the bike 2 weeks :blast

Certainly learned that lesson with such a slope at the bottom of the driveway.

OOh Hello!

I sympathise with you abut picking the bike up. I've dopped mine seven times now (twice in a river and once half way up the Stelvio pass, oops) and I always find it bl**dy heavy to get upright again. Evan when I do it the correct way

Never had the topbox fall off, though I know some who have. seems to be to do with either mounting incorrectly or faulty fixings.

BTW:
Jill's still riding the 100. It looks a bit different and a whole lot lower (original parts in the attic). The Airhead boys all look fondly at it, telling everyone how good it sounds.
She's done the Pyranees and the alps on it and loves it. Suits her a treet too.

It's a bit wet in this pic.

Thanks for updating me on the beloved R100GS. I certainly had an attachment to that bike.

It was a fine bike and in some areas better than my present 1200GS. Whilst of course not as powerful it had much better torque and a 100% connection to the throttle, whereas the 1200 is a bit wooly unless you play constantly with the gears.

I hope she enjoys it for many years to come.
