Should be going off to OZ in a few months for about a year and just wondered how to go about storing the bike. Any ideas anyone?

change all oils. leave on mainstand with both tyres off the ground. Either remove battery & leave on trickle charge, or trickle charge on bike. (I wouldn't feel happy with it on charge for a year on the bike)

Is in a damp free storage?

Petrol? I'd be inclined to disconnect the fuel lines, and run the engine to clear the fuel from the injectors & associated plumbing, so that that the petrol can't go off in there.

Then either fill it up with petrol and add a preservative, this will lessen the chance of any water moisture condensing into the tank. Or empty it completely, and leave the tank open, to breath. Not sure which is best, but do not leave half a tank of untreated petrol in the tank. There my twopenorth.

Before all this, go for last ride. let bike cool down, wash and dry. spray with your favorite anti corossion product. Kiss bike goodbye:rolleyes:

I'd wash it first, and then take it for a ride on dry roads. ;), getting the brakes very hot to get rid of any moisture.

Throw the battery away/sell it, and get a new one on your return.
