if it's made to measure you want there's BKS in Exmouth http://www.bksleather.co.uk/
who cost a fortune but are reckoned to be one of the best around, or if you don't mind travelling I'd recommend Crowtrees in lincolnshire http://www.crowtreeleathers.co.uk/
I had a suit made by them 18 months ago and can honestly say the quality is superb, also about half the cost of BKS. they always get good write ups in the m/cycle press.
If you don.t want brand new, I have a set of crowtree's for sale, might be a bit snug in the chest size but crowtree do an alteration service. See my previous post for pics etc. Always willing to haggle
there is only one maker of leathers i will use and they are AM leathers, they are based near scotch corner at barnard castle.the quality is second to none and the durability is amazing.the guy who owns the shop is an ex-racer and knows a thing or two about protective clothing.i also have been on the testing side of his products after having a 80mph off in the alps only to walk away thinking how glad i was to use AM leathers.if you contact them they will fax you and order form to take your measurements then when the clothing is 90% complete you go and collect for your final fitting, where the clothing is finished off.contact them on 01833631818 i think the guy is called steve.they are the company that make the police leathers need i say more, good luck
I can concur with the recommendation for AM leathers, superb, DO NOT go to a certain manufacturer from Barnard Castle, they do made to measure that does not fit , Work that one out !
thank you chaps for all your valued input, i've never really had leathers on the road before and my ex racing ones have been cuningly altered by alien beings whilst in my cupboard, does everyone wear leathers or will a two piece suit do,
i have a good jacket and some waterproofs.
Armored clothing has come a long way since the days of Belstaff Trialsmasters. Good leathers are tough to beat in preventing gravel rash but no good against a lamp pole at 70 mph. A fact that is often forgotten by a few......
I wear one piece leathers (while I can.... ) but often cover with other clothing when chilly. Too "close fitting" for substantial under layering...
