Leave em on or take em off ??

Hi all,I recently bought a Baglux tank cover for my beloved 1150 Adv., as I have a set of the thick rubber tank pads bought from Nippy's,you know the ones-sort of thick and studded rubber (oo-er),should I take em off before attempting to fit the Baglux ?,and if so how do I get em off without taking the paint off the tank I'm trying to protect ?,or should I leave em on -the cover will fit fine over them-and enjoy the security of belt and braces ?.
