Thanks, I've been through that and several hours of everything else I can find on the net Which has led me to the conclusion that it is the ABS sensors or the modulator, to save me some time I was hoping the fault codes would tell which one it was but I can't get any flashing form the LED..............
It is possible that you have an obscure fault which is not reading on the readout. If that is the case then the dealer probably won't be able to help you. After all they are only reading out from the same point you are with the LED.
I don't have a riders manual, but I seem to remember the ABS section is quite helpfull with regards lights and sequence.
Failing all of that, you are probably in the area of substitution.
Despite the warning lights, does the ABS function. You have the ability on your model to test the circuits independently. if it works, you can rule out modulator and sensors. Just leaving control unit.
On a side note. At least you still have good brakes, all be it with annoying flashing lights.
If you can't fix it yourself, I would talk to Steptoe. He is the Guru when it comes to these bikes and as he's not to far away from you in West London.
At least he is more likely to have spare parts that can be used in diagnosis, something a dealer is unlikely to have.
Thanks, I can fix the problem, when I find it! The ABS doesn't work as it is disabled once I ride off. The brakes work fine though, I just hate it when things aren't working properly!
Carry out continuity checks on the sensors. Compare the two readings.
The relay for the ABS motor sits under the black plastic cover on the modulator. You could try replacing that as a long shot, but as the system clunks, it's unlikely to be that.
The rest is power and continuity checks to the control unit connector. Unless you have already done it, it might be worth removing and refitting that connector, just incase you have corrosion causing a bad connection.
Thanks for that, an interesting read, but its not correct for the pre-servo 1150gs. Well it is, but the confusion is the mention of a bulb failure light when they are infact both abs lamps. Look at the circuit diagram (pay particular attention to this ) . A duff tail light will not affect the abs.
Hux, I think your right in that it is likely the abs unit or issue with the sensor/gap.
Just popped the rear lamp out of my 1150gs. Started, ABS lights blinking, pull away, clunk and out they go. ABS1 incorporated a bulb failure light, ABS 2 didn't, at least not on my 2002 1150gs.
