The good lady and I have decided to go and visit the wonderful Plitvice National Park in Croatia as she loves waterfalls !!
There are the most fantastic ones at this Park and we would have stayed to visit in 2009 when on the trip with like minded others but we hadn't time due to Hotels being booked in advance by the organiser (What a cracking trip that was too :):). ) Apparently you need a whole day to get around.
So,
1st Day,we intend to ship out via Calais stopping at Lomme(F) first,as we will have travelled from Leicester.
2nd Day,Mannheim (D)
3rd Day,Lofer (A)
4th Day,Trieste (I)

Then easy leg down to our Hotel at Zadar.
We will not be camping but using reasonably priced hotels,I aint roughing it at my age !

We intend to take two weeks with weds to weds in Zadar.

Mileage involved avoiding tolls, as I hate stopping to get money out although SWMBO is fully trained to carry out this duty,is about 1,150 (from Calais, outward leg ) if we don't get lost !!

May make the return journey by a different route but not decided yet.

Whilst in Zadar we will be chillaxing and doing whatever we please, poss visits to Bosnia,Serbia or whatever takes our fancy.

So if any of you fancy the ride down or whatever let me know ! :thumb2

Hi, it's just a thought, but staying a week in Zadar seems a strange choice if the main reason for returning to Croatia is to visit Plitvice Lakes?
We spent a day at the lakes a couple of years ago - stunning place and it does need at least 6 hours or so to enjoy - and you want to enjoy it in a pair of shorts etc - not bike gear.
From Zadar you have a round trip of about 190 miles, when we visited we stayed at a great B&B just couple of miles from the main entrance - and the owner offered to run us up there in the morning after breakfast so we could be in the right gear for a day in the park.

Cheers.........Grizzly

Sounds interesting - going that way myself (albeit a bit earlier). Any accommodation info appreciated

Hi Oldie,
We stayed in Villa Jezerka, in hamlet of Jezerce about 3km east of main entrance. Nice place to stay, good price, great breakfast(extra). There's a restaurant/grill a short walk away for evening meal.

Cheers,...............Grizzly

Lakes not the main reason, just one of them ! Its beautiful country with other Beautiful countries on its borders. With regard to the clothing, all our gear will be at our Hotel and our bike gear will be stowed in our empty panniers when we change into shorts etc !! Seeemples !
