Sadly, one records the passing of Liam Clancy, who died this Thursday afternoon.
Whilst it was not a shock, having gone to his swansong in Dublin earlier this year, the feeling of loss remains.
His songs and ability to enchant an audience will live on, but now only in recordings and in the memories of those fortunate enough to have seen him perform.
