As of today, Lidl are selling knee braces for £6.99 each. Ok so they're nowhere near full blown Moto X spec but have you ever tried wearing those....:( I've got a pair of EVS ones which I bought from the first Moderator on Earth a while back in anticipation of doing some off-road riding in California and Oregon a couple of years back and I couldn't get on with them.

At the moment, I'm "road testing" the Lidl ones, here on the sofa, with my Knox knee armour strapped on top. I think they'll work fine under my BMG Adventure Pants.

I had a look last time they were on sale here - They were marked "Not to be used as an orthapaedic aid" ....which is a bit worrying for knee braces...

ITYM orthopaedic, dear....:) It doesn't say that on any of the packaging of these ones. It does say - This product conforms to medical device guideline 93/42/EWG.

Don't you "Dear" me you neatly trimmed bearded cove, you!

Can't help it if Aldi's Chinese suppliers struggle with bigger words.

What are you expecting them to do?

I have the EVS vision braces and love them. Worked very well for me on long off-road bits when I was standing on the pegs as they transmitted by body weight directly to the boot and saved my creaky knees completely.

Do your EVS fit properly inside your boots and do you strap the boots up tight enough?

What are you expecting them to do?

Everything from making me tea in the morning to achieving World Peace...:)

Actually, I'll be happy if they stabilise my slightly dodgy right knee a wee bit so that in the event of another moment when I put my foot down and the ground's not quite there, it doesn't give way completely and I don't have another episode of lying on the road with the bike on top of me.

Do your EVS fit properly inside your boots and do you strap the boots up tight enough?

Ah well now, there's the thing. They probably would fit inside my Sidi Flexforce SRS boots, if I were to adjust the inside plates to increase the calf size of the boot. However, as I said, I originally got the EVS braces to take to California and Oregon and for that I bought the lightest pair of off-road TCX boots I could find and there's no way the braces would fit inside those.

Ah, therein lies the problem I think. They're supposed to fit inside your boots which creats an almost 'solid' section from your ankle up. Without the boots to support your weight the braces will be much less effective - as it seems you discovered!

Lidl if you're being a pedant today :D

I think 'braces' would be the wrong terminology for the item shown in the OP..

i would think of them as more a knee support ??
