Light Bar - Warning

Fitted a light bar to my GS a while ago and thought I would share a piece of advice.

MAKE SURE YOU FIT IT PROPERLY.

I bought the Migsel light bar second hand from here and fitted it after getting the correct fitting kit for the year (2006) from Migsel. Everything looked good and a test at night showed the lights were effective.

It was the following day that I noticed the scratches on the top forks. I hadn't mounted the bar far enough forward.

Now fixed but stuck with those ugly marks.

I must stress it is NOT the fault of the supplier or a design fault, it was purely my mistake. So be warned - make sure the forks are clear of the light bar at all angles.

Impossible to do?

I found my brackets would only go in one position on a 2004 bike. However, the light bar trashed my forks in an accident when the bent a bit recently so I feel your pain.
