:thumbFor those of you unlucky enough to have to help me haul my GS out of ditches, you`ll all be pleased to know that I`ve bought a much more suitable (and lighter) bike for these off road days. I realised as I lay under the GS waiting for Mav and Louisdut to lift the bike off me that perhaps I needed to learn on something more suitable, never mind the repair bills.

A bit drastic I know but I eally enjoy riding off road and if Mav can do it, so can I...!!

A nice low mileage 07 XT660R which needs a set of TKC`s and a decent exhaust system:thumb

Do you think the Pireli`s are a good compromise and will be OK on the sort of tracks we have done?

I made the mistake of putting TKC's on the Dakar. They are actually very good on road (as long as it's dry) but they are really only any good off road in the dry too.

I will be on the pirellis when these TKCs die.

Off ye go to touratech young man, time to bling the yam thing :D:D:D

Don't forget the essentials first (footpegs, crash bars, chain guide, rad guards, bar risers etc etc etc) :thumb

Bike looks brill, why change the pipe though??? All you'll do is p*ss off the ramblers who are intent on shutting every last remaining lane because of noisey anti social bikes :(

Hey Flip

I know what you are saying ref the pipes but boy those standard ones are heavy... Can`t really afford it right now but have checked out the Touratech catalogue already:augie

Best thing about this bike it was way less than half the price of that X country at Clarkes and I don`t think it`s half the bike (at least not in my hands) :thumb

Hey Chris,

Nice bike mate. We'll be seeing it in Wales pretty soon then ?!

I have been considering Metzeler Karoo MCE 's for the KTM
I think that the guy with the HP2 has one on the front ( Sorry can't remember names ! ).

Check out the links below.
I normally fit my own tyres and I've used Moto Tyres before.
Delivered to my door within 2 days.
Some fitters wont fit tyres unless they supply them tho.
( Santrix has found a good fitter )
See the link below and just punch in the sizes and leave the speed rating blank you will see a good selection
of types and brands

From memory they will be 90/90/21 and 130/80/17

I found that the TKC's on my 640 ADV were terrible in the mud the other weekend and the rear one seems to loose rubber every time I go out on the bike !

All of the single cylinder bikes I've had eat rear tyres, chains and sprockets !

Then again if you have bought the Yam as a second bike for more dirt based riding you could go for a more aggressive pattern ?
