Help please on adjusting the lights.

I have adjusted the lights before but things appear to be on the move out there in front.

I hope tomorrow to sort them out but I noticed the other night that the dipped beam unit seems loose and as I ride along the light tips up.

Also that the main beam seems to have sunk.

Any help here will be applied during tomorrow. I hope to find all the secrets of the adjustment system but anyones experience with the same/similar problems will be greatly appreciated.

Woodsie,

assuming that your lights are not loose (ie some bolts have worked free) then all the adjustment is made with a knurled plastic adjuster to the left of the headlamps (when you are seated on the bike). Turning the adjuster clockwise raises the lights , anti-clockwise lowers them (or the other way round, can't remember, but I'm sure you'll overcome it;)).

There is also a lever which forms part of the same adjuster. Once again, when it is horizontal, the lights will be set for solo riding and when vertically down, for pillion/loaded riding.

The whole thing is detailed on page 33 of the Rider's Manual

Individual screws to adjust each light also. Take the screen off and find the four small screws around the lights (2 each side). These adjust each light for up/down - left/right. Worth fannying about to get correct - made a BIG difference to mine when set correctly.

And..

there's a ball and socket arrangement to translate the adjuster movement to the headlight unit. If that isn't engaged properly, yer headlights will be floppin' all over the place (as mine were 'til I found it).

Just about to sort it

Thanks Mike, I've done the knurled knob and lever thing (ooer misus) but things have gone adrift from there, so I think I have to follow the Littteredrooster and Paulf route.

If it doesn't work, you'll recognise me as the one with the light shining out of my *rse. Possibly that will be an improvement for night riding?

Thank goodness for "Gripfill" and silicon mastic. They should hold the b*gger

I had this same problem on mine and couldn't get anything like a decent dpiied beam aim. Ball clicked into socket and all set up perfectly now. Still better with aux lights, though.
