Silly question but does anyone know what the little black plastic blocks that are next to the locks on the BMW Metal Adv panniers are for ?

They also don't seem to be on the earlier ones ?

Values to allow the internal pressure to adjust.

There were complaints that they were impossible to open when returning from altitude.

Good example of over engineering. There is a small hole in the pannier and the big lump of purpose designed plastic plus bolt is just to keep the water out

i have a tiny hole drilled in the low point of both panniers and top box. lids no longer lock down after mountain descents.

they don't appear to let any water in, but will drain any that comes in via the crappy seals.

That's why the BMW solution is rather over engineered.
