Hi
I am trying to load MP3 audio files onto my 2820. I first ripped the tracks of my CD using Windows Media Player, but of course this saved the files with a wma extension. Having read that the Garmin does not accept any other format other than MP3 I used another programme "Switch" by NCH swift sound to convert the files to Mp3. ( I got no where using Garmins suggested ipod website) These I have sucessfully uploaded to the garmin and they play. However despite loading seperately - they all go into one file, and do not show the album cover, and do not allow me to choose by genre, artist or album? all I get are the words "unknown". I have loaded all the associated files that came with the actual audio tracks. Any ideas? Why is there a Music file in the unit as well as a MP3 file?

cheers

Was this easy to do? :nenau Funnily enough I was thinking of opening a thread in the computer section asking if there was an easy way to copy CD tracks in MP3 format.

I've got loads of CD tracks I would like to download to an MP3 but the websites I've seen charge a monthly subscription, and TBH the numbers I would download wouldn't justify it.

I've already asked my 12 yr old and he didn't know. :D

Easy CD Ripper, cost £15 one off charge. It is easy to use, converts music direct from a CD to what ever format you want.....:D

Windows Media Player does it for free :rob
Correct, if you have WPM 10.x or WMP 11.x

By default, both rip to .wma format, so just go to the "Tools" menu and select "Options". Now click on the "Rip Music" tab and in the "Rip settings" drop-down list, select "mp3". Then, using the "Audio quality" slider, select an appropriate bit rate. If you're ripping the CD for use solely on the bike then select 128kbps because you won't be in a position to hear the mp3 compression artifacts in such a noisy environment. Click the "OK" button and you're done :guitarist

Hi - Many thanks I had not seen that option, will save a lot of time.

Hope your problem was sorted DG, but my problem continues.

Using Windows Media Player, I have Ripped certain songs from my favourite CDs (saving them in MP3 format as advised) and have copied and pasted them to the mobile phone memory card NOT a 2820. For some reason some tunes work, but the vast majority just get a message saying "File Format Not Supported". What the hell am I doing wrong? :blast

The memory card is new, and I have formatted it to FAT. Should it be formatted to FAT32? :nenau
