Hi all,

Does anyone recognise this gorge, I believe it's somewhere in Northern Spain? Picos or perhaps a bit further west? I'm planning to tour there next year and it looks worth riding...if I can find out where it is.

cheers,

Donnie.

cheers for the pointers guys.

I'm sure I've read a post on this "tunnel" before and that this image is photoshopped.

CA281 from Tudanca to Salceda

Dammit, dammit, dammit - I haven't been there - in fact I turned north-weast at Cueva towards Potes coming up from Cervera de Pisuarga - nice place! - back in about 1992! :blast

But this definitely isn't Photshopped:

Anyone know where it is?

Apparently, the location had been featured in a BMW Motorrad magazine some years back. A guy called Alex (Global Rider) had asked on Adventure Rider if anyone knew where it was. No one seemed to know and the few tip that did come forward where completely wrong. Anyway, we were riding the CA-281 South to North back in 2008 when I stopped to take pictures of the dam and suddenly realised where we were. An epiphany moment.

I still believe BMW spiced their picture up a bit, here it is.

Here's the same location, pictured in what seems to be a Dutch blog: http://www.spanjemijnland.nl/cantabrie/ Scroll down to Tadanca.

I guess the fellow photographed it. Either that or he inserted a picture lifted from somewhere else on the internet, which is easy enough to do.

A rough translation of the Dutch reads:

Tudanca

The town lies on Tudanca CA- 281 , perhaps one of the most beautiful roads in Spain .
Drive from here, parallel to the Rio Nansa to the southern Cervera de Pisuerga and you get the best views , dams and canyons against . All this surrounded by beautiful nature . You'll meet the Embalse de la Cohilla against , it was built in 1950 and has a storage of 12 million cubic meters. A little further on is the small village with 15 inhabitants Salceda and a charming little church , the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Sierra , from the 18th century. Again a little further you leave Cantabria , changes the way in the C - 627 and denotes Castilla y León. Beautiful!

If nothing else, it adds to the desire to go and see for oneself.

I don't know about the Photoshopped version. I found the image on google images. It's from IMTbike.com motorbike tours website. Attached is a google maps image of it. Looks a nice ride to me an bang on for location. Happy days :)

Heading that way soon. Leaving Plymouth this Saturday then meandering down to Spain over the next 9 days or so. Staying at Potes for the last night and this road is now part of our route to Santander. Thank you very much for posting this, great timing!!

The very same, nice one Santi.

Funnily enough I saw it on TV the other day in a tourism promo advert - but we bikers got there first! :)

This one should be easy!
