After recently fitting a new chain and sprockets after a few miles I decided to check all the torques to check for any loosening. On inspecting the front sprocket I was gobsmacked to discover the nut had fallen off!
I opted not to use Loctite on the nut as I gather it can be a bitch to get this nut off, I'm now re-thinking and wondered if it is the norm to use Loctite?

I'm thankful the friggin sprocket stayed on but it had me worried :(

Has anyone else had problems with this nut?

Regards

Jona

Glad the sprocket stayed on :eek but not had a problem myself you need to swing on a bar to tighten it up fully, and then bend the washer over the nut to stop it falling off, or if you are unsure how tight to do it up use a torque wrench hope you have more luck when you put it back on :)

Hi Biffa, I used a torque wrench mate but am not confident I bent the washer over :(
Awaiting a new nut and washer so I'll be taking my time with it when I put them on.

Hmmmmmm :(

I think you and Biffa might have seen the error of my ways :augie

I work with Helicopters (not a maintainer!) and when fitting it I was thinking there should be locking wire on it or something similar like they use on aircraft. Maybe I should have read the manual better!
