BAdly need a part.

Outside seal for a r1200 final drive.

No other transport to get to work and abbey seal and joe duffy are on lock down.

The one time I ever needed a bit for this bike and it happens now.

Try Mark from Platinum. He is a gent.

Emergency repairs are permitted.

I was talking to Patrick in Duffy’s yesterday and he said they would remain open as they looked after the Garda bikes JJH

Is it a WC or earlier model

I know a lad has a complete FD for a R1200 LC with only very minor scuffing on it........would be good to keep for spares.

Have you tried with a proper fork seal cleaner Or a small slip of milk carton or thin plastic and carefully lifting the seal edge and using it to clear out any debris that may be making the leak??

I have done this successfully for a couple of folks Resist using a screwdriver because you stretch the seal more

Slide in the tool spray something like 3 in 1 silicone or similar (NOT WD40 the seals don't like that schit!) clean and work any possible debris outwards

Cleaning and drying out side as you go

Thanks. My FD is goosed. shot completely. I went to service it last week. Opened the rear drain in an up right position. Was full of water. Brown dirty water. When I dropped it , this is what I found. https://ibb.co/TThZ8vP

I got a second hand one for 200 but the outside seal is out of it . And was destroyed.

I could get back on the road with a new one.

Im currently using my old FD for a 20 mile trip to work... And its spiting oil onto my rear tire. ANd probably dry by now.

Im a bus driver and have to continue to work, Which is not ideal.

If it's a WC that FD is in Newbridge.
Could be had cheap.

Why cant you remove the outer seal from your goosed drive,

and fit it to your new drive...??

Or as i suspect, the missing seal from the new drive is telling it's own story, in that it's goosed also

Ask yourself the obvious question.

Why is a supposed "OK" unit missing a seal?

has it got any oil in it? - more than likely not, so when you do get a seal and fill the unit, you could find its either

going to piss out, or

will weep, which is due to excess play in the bearings

which equals .... A new or rebuild required

You could have had the original unit off to Mikey, and quite possibly back with you by now.
