Looking for adventure... 2-2.5 hrs ride from North London

I'm going for a ride on Friday from North London. I can spend up to 2-2.5 hrs on the bike one way. Will have lunch, turn around and come back.

Where do I go?

I'm asking b/c I'm an American new to the UK and genuinely don't know what's a good ride yet... I was thinking Brighton/Bristol/Cambridge just based on the map.

They have a nice Cafe near by

You can ride through places like Fichinfield

I selected this route using iPad maps and walk, they are all good adventure bike roads. From North London I'd say belt up the A1 to somewhere like Welyn the go X country
