Bloke at work is trying to flog me his Lookwell textile jacket, the size is about right I reckon, but I really want a jacket that going to keep me dry in the rain.

Would be nice if it was warm and had some protection too, but this is secondary as most of the time I would wear my leather underneath.

I think he'll give me a pretty good deal on it, but unless it's going to keep me dry in heavy rain, I don't want it.

I don't know which model it is at the moment, but it's red and black with the fabric styled so that it looks like its got black shoulder and elbow pads on red fabric.

Any advice gratefully received.

lookwell jacket

My wife had one not seen mutch rain but the quility is not as good as by Dianesi. Quality ok for money. Cuffs on sleave would not allow gloves underneath, hence rain would run into gloves.

Lookwell Jacket

Had mine for 3 years, only let me down once:(

This was a 190 mile trip in a torrential downpour, that was nice:rolleyes:

Otherwise okay, some stiching has started to come undone on the flap over the zip but thats my fault for trying to rush getting dressed.

True about the water coming down the inside of your gloves but this is when stop and have your hands at your sides.......little tip....... keep your hands pointing skywards. Jacket gets used all year round, warm in winter and not to hot in summer.

All in all not to bad

leathers

Not textiles I know but I had some Lookwell leathers back in 1999.

Week 2 - jacket stitching came apart at shoulder, and trousers inner seam went the same way. Couldn't get me money back quick enough.

Thanks guys.

Actually I figured that their leathers weren't that good, but as I already have a nice R.S. jacket (and I would wear that underneath normally) it doesn't bother me.

Bloke has changed his mind anyway today so it doesn't really matter now!!

There are still lots of things on my shopping list though, so while I've got your attention, what about a warm waterproof pair of trousers, for all year round all weather riding? I've got a pair of old Frank Thomas waterproof trousers at the moment, the problem is that during really heavy rain they seem to start letting in water around the groin (not pleasant as I am sure you can imagine!!)

Recommendations?
