Had my headlight replaced at a dealer today.

Didn't notice anything on the motorway slog back, but on the shitty roads close to home, I found to my dismay that my instrument cluster was bouncing around.

Where do I need to tighten up the mechanic's sloppy effort? I can't seem to find the correct bolts?

Any help appreciated...

They're fastened onto the headlight shell, but they do jiggle a bit on bumpy roads and at tick-over.

:)

There are no bolts and zero adjustment available. The instrument cluster is held on via three circlips.

Check to see if all three are where they should be and the cluster has been "pushed" through hard enough for the circlips to "clip" in the right place.

As Mr K, they do jiggle around a fair bit even when fitted correctly.

Thanks guys.

It's definitely moving more than previously so probably down to the circlips. Will check it out.

I have noticed that mine jiggles a lot as well. No work has been done on it and all seems to be fitting correctly. I was going to post a similar question...:)

I was wondering if anyone has tried to 'spring-load' the assembly in some way to hold it?

I had the same problem, here's a fix :

The headlamp unit is fixed with two bolts (L/R) and a central pin underneath. Remove the bolts, tilt the unit forward, and put a rubber ring on that central pin. This will stop the headlamp unit form juddering. Put headlamp back in its' place. Don't forget to re-adjust your headlamp beam. See manual.

If after fastening the headlamp unit the instrument panel still judders try this : the instrument panel is fixed on the headlamp unit with circlips as mentioned. There can be a bit of slack, which is why the instrument cluster vibes. If they were bolts, you'd screw them tighter. So I just put something in between one circlip to fasten things up a bit. I used a small cardboard ring, cut open on one side (so actually a 'U').

This worked for me.

Found that my issue results from the install happening with the nav unit in place above the clocks. With the cluster wedged up against the nav, there was little movement, as soon as I removed the satnav, the cluster and headlight now swing free and there is about a centimeter of vertical play in either direction.

Dealer giving me the 'they all do that' story.

Gonna have to do GSband's fix.
