Have the plane tickets booked for a trip to London, November 13th-16th. Only today i find out the Lord Mayor's Show is on 14th Saturday
Would like to see the procession and the fireworks but i'm bringing the missus too so don't really want to be ''in the middle of it all''. Any suggestions for rather calm and nice spots with good views to watch it? Public transport issues (delays, overcrowded?), shops open? All inputs welcome.

Oh any pointers towards nice&affordable bike-gear shops (apart from the obvious hein greicke) in and around central London? Will probably be staying around Nottinghill, missus has never been to London before, so will be taking her around, show her the sights, let her do the shopping thing :blast don't want to get her all stressed-up going helmet/jacket-hunting in a far away neighborhood. In or closer to Travelcard Zone-1,the better. Cheers :thumb2

The Lord Mayor's Show celebrates the investiture of a new Lord Mayor for the City of London, the capital's (and maybe the world's) financial centre.

Full details here: http://www.lordmayorsshow.org/

All the shops will all be open in the West End (Oxford Street / Regent Street / Bond Street / Knightsbridge etc) on Saturday and on Sunday. The city's Lord Mayor has nothing to do with them, nor does the route come anywhere near them. No public transport issues at all, beyond the normal. Buy travel cards for the duration of your stay.

The fireworks are excellent.

Watch the fireworks from the north side of the Thames, along the Embankment (see tab on website).

Clothing shops: There are several branches of Infinity (ex Motorcycle City) http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/default.asp The branch in Great Portland Street would be good if you are Oxford Street bound and / or you could take an easy tube ride to Sondel at Highbury Corner http://www.sondel.co.uk/
