I'm on Windows XP Home edition.

All of a sudden, I find I have to log on to all my regualarly used websites, because my PC no longer remembers my username or password.

This happens on Ebay, Ukgser, Thumpertalk and several others. I haven't knowingly altered anything on my machine, and it's a real pain in the a** as I now have to enter (and remember!) all my various passwords.

Can anyone help as soon as possible please.

Have you got Auto-Update enabled? You could have been updated to SP2 which could well have deleted all the cookies and disabled them.

Look under Tools/Options or someplace for this option and check the box accordingly.

Can't be more precise at the moment as I am on Win98 and using Mozilla at the moment.

After installing SP2 I found that all my cookies had been deleted.
Once you put them back in it should be back to normal.

SP2....service pack 2........latest update to the XP operating system......in theory should close a whole lot of holes that Microsoft should have plugged before the original XP was released....also includes a much nicer interface for the firewall, a security update package and some other tweaks that you won't find unless you go delving.

You may well find (As mentioned above) that youre pc is set to upload and install windows updates automatically......if it's not, you can go to the windows update site and get SP2 (I'd recomment it......XP does run faster on my machine now and it does plug a good few holes).

...but be aware that SP2 is effing enormous - 250mB? If you're on a dial-up connection rather than broadband, it will take more than an overnight session.
