Just purchased a VERY low mileage R1150GSA (cheers Gadget)

Now... do I need to get the alternantor belt changed?.... Bike has a full service history, but I dont know if the belt had been changed....so, are these date sensitive?

Sensitive or not its less than £13 from BMW for a new belt. So do it and keep the old as a spare.

That's what I did on my mega mileage GS.

As per usual I only had it 5 minutes:D As I recall Dave, its not listed on any of the BMW service invoices, so I guess not.

Thanks all... and thanks John.

I might be wrong but I think It's supposed to be done at 50,000 km. I think mine was done then but bike now sold so I don't have a record anymore.

Mine snapped at about 35,000 miles ....at 13 quid if it worries you, do it anyway

The recommended change is 36,000.................ah well..........shame it took out the Hall sensor as well which was a fair bit more than 13 quid :(

Do it :thumb2

Keep 'old' one as spare, and the wrenching on the bike will help you bond with it as well :clap

I had slightly more bonding than I'd envisaged when I bought my 1100 :blast but we know each other very well now ;)
