Ok Guys any tips on smoothing out that 30- 40mph low end shunting, a nuisance in towns. r1150 gs running on standard exhaust system with no mods.. i take it a rare thing.. sits poorly at low speeds.. oh, not sure if shunting is right description but you guys will know what i mean..:):)

Cheers..

Mine was doing that... took it for a tune idle screws out and cleaned ..TB's balance and the throttle linkage fettled....

completely different bike for me... smooth through the gears and i cqn actually cruise in 6 or E below 50mph....

defo worth a punt

its a single spark. new plugs and leads last serviced around 400 miles ago by BMW..TBs quoted as balanced..

Have read on few posts about idle screws and idle setting. tried fettling with this around 3k felt a little better but did not remove them.

Well single spark bit more prone to surging , that y bmw ad second plug , tune will make better but won't cure completely .
It be notes only on constant throttle.

If it's surging more after a service I would say it might need the valves setting again or the TB's have been set wrong.

I've got a single spark and used to have problems with surging, but after doing the valves a few times I seem to now have the hang of it and the surging is gone. I start off with the end float setting then do all 4 valves at the same time for each side, I don't know why this works but it just does.

One other thing, do the valves when it's stone cold.

HTH.
