Has anyone got any ideas on how to make the low seat more comfortable, I rode to Oban from Yorkshire and to say it was a challenge on my rear end would be the understatement of the century, upon my return I have had a gel pad fitted to it but it doesnt seem to have made any differance infact its probably worse than the original seat.
Can you reccomend any alternative as you can guess from the low seat comment I am not the largest person at 5'6" tall and need it to be as low as possible, are there any replacement seats or easier answers?:comfort

AirHawk is the answer. These are inflatable and removable. I have used them on tours of France and Italy - no sore bum; no blisters - lovely!

Mine used to be horrible, I couldnt manage much more than 120-150 miles before I had to get off for a while.

Now I can do 300+ without too much difficulty

What have I done?

Nothing... just got used to it, didnt take long, just a lot of riding.

Those BMW low seats and like riding on wood, but I think that although undoubtedly comfortable, an airhawk will raise you up an inch or so. My solution was a Kahedo low seat from Touratech. Slightly lower than the BMW low but more comfy that the BMW standard. I've done almost 500 miles a day without numb bumb.:thumb2

kahedo for me,just done 2000 miles round scotland last week ,best seat i have ever had:clap

I know what you mean about the BMW low seat  so I bought an Airhawk. To say this was a revelation would be an understatement as in 800 miles days with little to no discomfort. It doesn't raise the seat height by 1 inch. The trick is to put just enough air into it to raise you arse off the seat:thumb2

I trecently sold the BMW low seat and bough a used Kaheedo low seat off another site member. It uses the BMW seat base and is trimmed/sculptured in such a way that it makes the BMW Low Seat seem tall. Despite its lower height it is relatively comfortable on short journeys however for longer jaunts I still use the Airhawk :D

I think the original Low Seat is a a bit of a ripoff! Like you I got it specced with the original order, and regretted it on the first long journey (down to Bordeaux). Ordered a Corbin, which was miles better but taller and wider, got a used standard from here and found it equally rubbish for anything over 100m. If the Kadeo fits then use it, but try one first!

I put up with the standard low seat for 2 years; it cut into my thighs after 2 hours. Then got a sargent low seat. Much better - no discomfort any more.
