been looking at hyperpro springs these will lower the saddle by about 30mm and are progressive
anybody using these
any thoughts?

You can lower them a little by fitting a thinner rubber on top of the front shock, I left it out by accident, quite surprising really.

Easier and probably cheaper to fit a pair of S/H shocks from an R1100/850R.

+1 lower seat and perhaps adjust the bars so they're a tad closer. much MUCH cheaper than doing this any other way. Any seat customiser will be able not just to lower your standard (or 'low') seat to suit you - they will also improve your comfort levels immensely due to the far higher quality of foams they use.

If your seat happens to be a standard one - then consider the Sargent. not only is this far superior in quality (and comfort levels) to the OE - it is also - as standard - an inch lower.

seems completely oddball to me to go down the expensive route first before exploring the cheap and simple options.

seat remade £100 - bar adjustment £30

Lowering the entire motorcycle and lowering the seat are two different options. Lowering my 1200 would make life easier for Mrs Bear when she climbs on board behind me, and might well make the plot (pillion + full luggage) less unweildy at awkward off-camber junctions. Lowering the seat would cause me considerable discomfort as the seat and footpegs are, as standard, too close for comfort for a 36 inch inseam. Lowering the seat is, as previously posted, the cheaper option, but it isn't always the way to do it.

hyperpro do springs for around £72 pound delivered .

if needed i can give a link or number of a cheep supplier, they take 10 to 15 days to deliver , coz there imported fro Holland

many thanks for replies but due to the present situation might have to sell the bike.this is a tough decision that i keep putting off.

If you go down the route of fitting new/shorter springs, there's a guy in Corsham who will be able to fit and adjust them for you. A small business called MH racing. I don't have his number, but I can get it if you want it.

I'm also hoping you don't give up and sell the bike. :augie

My other half 'Kleine Blumen' is looking for someone in the Wiltshire area 'and we're just over the hill from you' who has a lowered one she can have a sit on, because she has a hankering (though I think they're just too big/heavy for her) for one. She's currently riding a very nice 100GS that I've lowered by about five inches at the seat.
