Hi All

I'm shortly trading in my 1150GSA with its BMW alu panniers and have ordered a new 1190 last week, so I'm looking for some advice:

1. I've looked at both the Jesse & the Bumot panniers. I'm asking myself if the Jesse's are worth the extra cost bearing in mind I'm not going round the world but we do go touring on the bike 3 or 4 times a year.

2. I normally leave a topbox on my bike fulltime & wonder if the Bumot one is my best bet? The Jesse, apart from the cost (!!) looks really big.

3. The Wings exhaust look very nice & I've sent an email enquiry to Goradz, just wondering if the shorty exhaust ends up covering the inside of the right hand pannier with gunge? In which case I'll get the standard version.

4. Tankbags. On the 1150 I've used a Touratech tankbag with no probs. I don't like the KTM one, haven't actually seen the 1190 Touratech one except in their catalogue & I've also looked at the Givi XS306 tanklock bag but not seen it on the bike. Any advice please? I guess I could try & modify my old Touratech which currently clips onto the front of the 1150 tank.

5. Are there any sidestand "feet" available yet for the 2014 bike?

6. Who gave the best insurance deals for the 1190?

regards
Ray

Have a look at the SW Motech City tank bag - it's not the biggest but fits the tank well.
SW Motech also have a side stand extender in their catalogue, but it does not seem to readily available yet.
I have Givi Trekker 33 panniers from a previous bike, mounted on SW Motech quick release racks. All very good, but they do make the bike very wide which I don't like.
If I was buying panniers again and expected to use them frequently, I would probably go for the Holans.

Thanks for the info Stroller,
I hadn't really considered Holans, their website lokks good but does anyone have any experience of their boxes?

sw motech uk will order you in the sidestand foot if you ask them. it's nearly forty quid though!

Seems to be the going rate or what people are prepared to pay these days, still cheap compared to a Camel Toe

Guys
Have had a 1190 R for a month now . Have fitted Arrow titanium silencer as I have dropped the pillion pegs and the Arrow is smaller dia and sounds very good.
I ordered the Motech tank bag and have just come back from a week around the Alps. The bike was brilliant, more fun than the gs i traded in, and handled the Stelvio Pass with ease. Havn't bothered with hard luggage as yet , just put a 50l bag on the back with Roc straps.

Do you mind telling me how you lowered the pegs, did you make up brackets yourself or is there a kit out there?

I bought a set of 2 x 45 litre boxes with a cutout for a Remus/Wings. Very well made, close fitting (4" narrower than 2 x 45 on my 990) but they're made to order so plan for delivery of around 4 weeks but I have to say I'm pleased with them. Tip - their locks fit Zegas but Zega locks don't fit Holans - the Zega locks are deeper

The Holan Nomada panniers on my recent trip have been great. Strong (I clouted a construction workers metal trailer with only a mild ding and small crack in on of the plastic corners, despite it sounding like a bomb had gone off !!), totally waterproof, easy use and lids that could be removed or opened from either end. Not too wide to hinder filtering and can't say enough good things about them.
