My trusty 12 year old Frank Thomas soft side panniers finally gave up the ghost this evening whilst trying to work out the best way to fit them to my bike:thedummy
So, I'm in the market for a new set of some description, but need help narrowing down the vast assortment of available options.

(I already have the plastic mounts for the BMW Varo panniers on the bike)
I'm looking to be using the bike mainly for weekend trips and the yearly jaunt to Europe, green lanes at some point, i.e. mild off-roading. (I worry the Vario panniers are not up to the mild off-road abuse?????)
A trip to Morocco is also on the cards within the next 5 years:bounce1

My mate Palerider has bought the all singing all dancing BMW alu panniers for his GSA, not sure I can warrant the expense at the moment:nenau

I've got some Kriega 20 and 2x10ltr soft packs. Should I jut invest in some soft panniers to compliment these, or should, considering my plans, be looking at something more substantial?

The other thing I forgot to mention is that I have an Akropovic end can.
Already I've found out the it's unadviseable to use Caja Sahel as the end can will foul and probably melt the mounting brackets.

If, for example I went for the BMW adventue ones, (that is if Palerider can live with the fact that I the same panniers as him, (looking doubful:mmmm)), will I have issues with heat transfer between exhaust and contents of pannier?

Thanks,
Ollie

Luggage

Check out Ventura luggage. Lots of choice, flexible configuration, doesn't affect handling, completely secure on the bike but on and off in seconds - I find it superb!
