Anyone using soft luggage on their GS?.

I’ve just got kreiga soft bags to fit onto sw Motech racks, and was wondering if anyone had gone for similar, or the bmw soft luggage (mosko moto bags re branded I think)

Or does everyone recon they HAVE to have hard bags on a GS?

Bubb, whatever takes your fancy, I have used OE vario, GSA rack and panniers, Givi Trekker outback, & Kreiga or just a bag strapped on the passenger seat, in the past, they all work, XR at the mo, have OE panniers or may use Keiga instead. John

Hey Bubb - I always work on the basis of how bothered I'm going to be if my gear gets ripped off.
So if its expensive - ie camera gear and I'm going to walk away from the bike for any amount of time - it's always in a hard case.
On the other hand if it's a tooth brush and a few t-shirts ....
Lots of good stuff out there. I've just got a set of Bumot boxes. They look like filing cabinets, but excellent build quality!
Cheers :beerjug:

Hey Bubb,

Hopefully not hijacking your thread with this...

What Kriega soft panniers are you using?

I’m about to start doing some medium off-roading on my LC GS Rallye 1200 and it doesn’t have pannier rack. I don’t want hard panniers as there’s no give when they hit something.

So I’m keen to know what aftermarket pannier racks are well built and which soft panniers are decent too. I’ve always liked kriega stuff but I wasn’t sure what make of pannier rack they will fit!?

Cheers

If this is hijacking your post please ignore - I have Motech soft panniers with frames in the 'for sale' forum if they are of interest

I use both on my GSA LC.

Riding solo and away for a couple of days only I prefer the Kriega 30l bag strapped to my rear seat. If I go for a longer time (as in needing more luggage) I use the alu cases.
I always keep the alu. top box.

However, I feel the alu. cases makes the bike a bit bulky, so I avoid them whenever possible.
I never carry camping gear.

My choice of Kriega vs other brands was random, I picked it because it was available, looked ok and served my purpose. I am sure other brands will do equally well.

No problem.
Hope you get a sale

Red knight

I have so Motech pannier rails. They are well made, and come off in about 5 minutes or less, so I keep the uncluttered look of the GS which I like
kreiga make a set to go on the sw Motech panniers.... just look up kreiga.com, and go to the “adventure” part of the range.
They make a set for the GSA pannier rails too, but I saved a couple of quid and bought the panniers and rack attachments for the rails I already had.

Or just buy the set off HaydnW in for sale section....

Ride safe

I’ve gone for Kriega overland panniers........fucking brilliant. Tough, waterproof, stylish and easy on and off. Going to get some luggage cubes to go in them to,sort my clothes out, but fits my work lap top, in its bag. And given the alternatives, competively priced

Bubb, it really does depend on how much you want to pay too. I use Enduristan monsoon 30L. They strap on under the pillion seat and have worked great for me. I recently bought sport bags from Decathlon as inners so I grab and go. Honestly, I don’t leave anything of value in any panniers.

Hi,

I've got the F750GS (no panniers racks) so went for the Rogal 30L solution (horseshoes bag). But they have really good waterproof side panniers. BUT as you have pannier racks you should check out LOMO side panniers. Fully waterproof and about £50! :) Cheers
