Mandy and I will be riding through Cumbria tomorrow morning on our way from Cairnryan to Newcastle for the 5pm ferry.

We expect to reach Carlisle around noon. Can any of you recommend a good spot for a bite of lunch along, or very close to the A69? A nice wee pub with decent grub would be ideal.

Thanks in advance. :thumb2

Not disrespect to Carlisle's eateries but I'd ride another 40 miles and stop at the Angel Inn at Corbridge: it's not the cheapest of places but the food's fantastic.

Another option is to turn off at Hexham, loads of places to eat there.

If you have time go straight ahead when you come to the end of the A69 and head for the town centre, just follow the road for about 2 miles and you come to Westgate road, theres about a dozen bike shops there.

I'll be there in the afternoon, I'll look out for you, funny enough then I'm off to North Shields too.

Thanks very much for the suggestions fellas.

After an early start in the morning we will be ready for some grub around noon so we will most likely stop at the Milecastle Inn on the B6138 (Military Road) as recommended by Petcul.

Mort, if time allows we may well have time for a rummage in some shops on Westgate Road. Mandy fancies some new bike trousers, are there any good clothing outlets along there who cater for laydeez? We will be on a black 1150 with huge Ard Cases. :)
