Having a day off today, so I get up late and, having washed just about everything I possess last night, spent a while re-organising my packing. At 1100ish, I take the bike up the road to the local car wash…

…which is oddly choosy about those that use it. Quite where you go when your vehicle is muddy isn’t clear. The change machine was a little confusing…

until I work out that one dollar coins are called ‘Loonies’, for some reason – and two dollar coins are, obviously, called ‘Twoonies’…

I make my way up to Ricky’s Grill, about 12km away…

…where I’m going to have lunch. Outside, there is a stray dog. A couple of passers-by have checked in the restaurant to see if anyone owns him, without success, so they’ve called the SPCA…

‘I can’t understand why he’s waiting by the restaurant’, says one of the passers-by. Apparently the restaurant staff had taken pity on him and brought him a plate of sausages. That’s one mystery that doesn’t need Poirot to solve, I feel :rolleyes:

I’m here to meet Grant Johnson, who, as may of you will be aware, runs the Horizons Unlimited web site – a fantastic resource which I made good use of whilst planning the trip. We have a very pleasant lunch – I was impressed that the waitress…

…Gina, uses a PDA to take our order, which is wirelessly transmitted to the kitchen…

Grant & I discuss my immediate plans and, after lunch, he has a look at my sidestand and recommends a local welding & fabricating guru who may be able to lengthen/tighten/bend it to become more effective and reduce the chances of another ‘over the top’ topple…

He also tries to sell me the idea that the best way to ship my bike to Australia is from Santiago, after riding the length of South America…:D

I return to my hotel, and start researching the costs of flying my bike to Australia, rather than shipping it…
