There was a thread a while ago about owners suffering from persistent vibration at around 80 on motorways. I had the same problem and had my dealer go over the bike thoroughly last month during its 12,000 mile service, especially throttle balance and valve clearances.

It was better afterwards, but not quite right. However at the weekend I fitted new tyres and the problem has completely vanished. I swapped the Tourances for B020s (which incidentally have improved the ride and handling no end), but I don't know if it is the make of tyre or simply the fact of having the wheels balanced that made the difference.

I've had Tourances for tens of thousands of miles, but only had the vibration problems on my latest bike.

Could have been OLD stock tyres, there was a batch that gave vibes at speed, i think it was last year thou...

I guess if you ride on the road there is no sense using trail type tyres.
020's or Pilots are always going to be smoother.

Could have been one of your tyres was mis-formed in some way. I have had this on my car twice. The first time, I spent months and lots of cash on repeated visits to the dealership, having some suspension, brake discs and steering bits replaced. In the end they swapped over all my wheels for some spares in the workshop and found the problem was gone. I got 4 new tyres and it was like a new car. Expensive lesson learned.
