M4 permanent reduced speed limit

Just noticed the M4 from junction 30 to junction 24 is now 50 mph, with little permanent 50 mph signs at the required distances.

Smacks of Gwent seeking another nice little earner from the abundant M4 traffic - just in time to catch all the summer holidaymakers on their way home. £60 a pop

I assume the excuse is the construction of the new road, but outside of rush hour the limit could stay at 70 mph

Good man, I noticed this this morning, I was in my lorry doing 50 and all the cars were shooting past at 70+. I was going to post the fact on here but you beat me to it reckon there will be a mobile camera van on the part of the M4 pretty soon

AFAIK they are,as the camera's are forward facing mobile units positioned on the road bridge above the toll booths,these are conveniently obscured by the overhead info and sign gantry

I think the signs are there in preparation for the extensive roadworks that are imminent on that stretch

I noticed that too, last week it was a 70 and this week its a 50.

Its a long way to south Wales from scunthorpe and it's not helped by all the fecking roadworks on the way and low speed limits like on the m4. (the m1 is a 50 limit for about 15 miles or 75 transit vans if your bored )

Being paid by the hour helps, the tax man is going to fecking love me this month
