Hi , I'm thinking of buying a Mac Book Pro , will the Garmin software rune well on this system as I'm tired of windows and have no real computer skills.
I like the look of the pro , size etc.

Any advice would be good.
Thanks

The Garmin software runs as well on the Mac as it does on Windows.

Garmin software is very poor on any platform.

Stick, the mac has a bit of a "learning curve ".
It's worth making the move from Windows though (imho).
My advice would be to buy one from Costco and that gives you the option of returning it if you don't "gel" with it .

It really comes down to whether or not the software you want to run is available on the Mac and how much you like macOS. The Garmin stuff is available, as are the usual office apps. If you don't game a lot you probably won't have too much trouble but it might be worth checking if there are a couple of apps you depend on.

The Mac hardware is a bit out of date, they haven't had a proper refresh in a while but they're still reasonable if a little expensive for what you get.

Go to an Apple store and have a play with one, see what you think.

buy a refurb from the apple store. full guarantee and, usually, £200+ cheaper than a brand new model.

There is bit of a learning curve with a Mac but it's not difficult. I made the swap a year or so ago and don't regret it, not had any problems whatsoever. I got a top spec refurbished 15" MacBook Pro from Apple and saved a few hundred quid, they're brand new AFAIC plus you'll get 1 year of Apple aftercare.

I swapped from windows to mac in 2012 and I haven't looked back. I totally support what has been said about the learning curve though but stick wth it and you will be rewarded IMO.

Thanks

Thanks for all your replies and appreciate your time to post , think I will go for the Mac as it will suit my needs better.
Happy Days

you get 14 day no quibble returns policy from apple too. that's likely where the apple refurbs come from. i have an oldish refurb MBP which i'm very happy with.

the hardware has not been updated in ages, but it seems very likely that it will be refreshed next month.

Dead easy to put windows on a Mac if you want games.

Of course, bootcamp is always an option, or just wipe that pretend *nix off of it and put on a decent OS :D

But as the OP said they were tired of Windows I thought it worth mentioning ;)
