Spured on by an offer I got from someone on this site, and the fact it'll be my second portable. .

Good choice!

Richie,

You won't regret buying the mac. They are bloody brilliant. Make you less of a techie though, as there is no "crap" to sort out. e.g. Driver this, and bollocks that just to get a mouse to work!

I think it is wise to invest in the apple care plan. If you can get the hardware at a discount then the dealer should be able to offer you the apple care at a discount too. World Wide coverage for 2 extra years.

OK its oredered. I'm paying 700£ in the end to get it from a local dealer who will give me some freebies and make sure it connects properly to my PC. Wifi and Airport thingy...

So now what I need I reckon is a wordprocessor, Spreadsheet, Dreamweaver and Flash Software...

Prefereably free/shareware for the first two.... But I like the macromedia products so much I can't live without them.

Ideas on a postcard please. And if anybody is looking for an unbiased report on moving from PC (20 years experience) to MAC (O years experience) I'm your man. I'll have the machine next week when I get back from Ireland..

Funnily enough, I'm really looking forward to it, should I buy and OSX for tossers book????

Macromedia Studio MX 2004 containing all the straight line latest high-end Macro products is available for MacOS. Wanna buy it - no problem. Wanna get it "over the corner" (tha illegal thingy) - use Bit Torrent or some other peer-to-peer softy to pin out the mac version.

Not needed! It takes only one afternoon the learn fully the whole basic thing (i think even my grandma learnes MacOS 3X quicker than complicated Winza :D ) That's it.

1st tip on MacOS: start to think not that complicated, the MacOS is fully intuitive - drang and drop principe the files and soft (i.e. wanna start the app just drag the file to the needed app that you want to work with - not needed to go to the app first, then click Open, find the file, and open it etc)

2nd tip: keyboard shortcuts you'll find from simple upper menus you normally use. Get used with them - one hand on mouse and one on the keyboard. Once you've got used with them - veeeery effective way of working with the computer - quick as hell.

3rd tip - there's no step three: just check out some web available MacOS information sites from searchengine if you have someting in your mind you once did in Winza but dunno how to do it in MacOS - you'll find the solution.
