I'd love some advice. I run my own business and have a PC in my office 35 miles away. I try to work from home 2 days a week and have used XP Desktop Manager faultlessly for many years to access the office PC. No server or network at work as such - just patches straight into the office PC.

I need to renew my PC at home, and given the functions at home are more geared towards Photos, Video and Music I'm thinking of going down the Mac route.

Few specific questions:

Can I still access the office PC from a Mac using Desktop Manager. If not, what are the options?

I'm running a Netgear Wirless Router at home for various laptops, PC's and Internet Radios. Will the Mac be able to just pick this up and run like my current PC does?

Are there any other obvious compatibility issues that I face that I might not have thought about?

Many thanks

The Mac will certainly pick up a wireless network with no problem.

Don't know much about remote desktop for mac - but it does exist (link) and I have used it in the past with no real issues. I'm no 'power user' though so there may be some gremlins. It was fine for eveything I needed though...

Sorry in advance if I've hijacked the thread but it seemed I'm in a similar situation.

I've got to do a similar thing.

I have currently a laptop and desktop and use livedrive to sync and backup the two and also backup to some USB 500 Gb hard discs.

I have just gone and bought myself a mac laptop (fed up of pc crashes even with win 7 and jealous of my wifes Imac)

Can I still use the usb harddrives to read and write from the mac. If I were to connect them to my desktop and then connect the mac to the desktop through my wireless interent would that work?

Livedrive I think will work through ftp so should be ok with that.

Can i put my MS Outlook pst folder onto the mac mail program or do I need to buy Office 09 for mac to do this?

Thanks for any help.

Tom
