I am thinking of replacing the battery in this laptop and looking at something like Amazon there are loads of different batteries and prices.

Has anyone got a good recommendation from experience of which battery to go for.

Many thanks

Kimbo

I am contemplating to replace my battery in my Mid 2014 MacBook Pro by purchasing from these guys. Then selling it on here, as certain software I use no longer being supported, so due to upgrade now.

ifixit is the correct choice

Why?

Besides being 9 years old, it still performs rather well. As I did future proofed it by upgrading processor and memory. But lacking in latest Mac OS in order to run software I need is the main reason to change for me. Being intel machine, it’ll run geek software such as Linux. I am tempted to keep it should I invest into CNC.

Not sure you'll recover the extra cost for the new battery. I'd just sell it as it is.
I have an old 2016 MBP 15" with an almost completely dead battery (10/15 mins) and I was considering doing the same but decided against spending money in replacing it. I would just sell it "as is" for less. ;)

It is an Intel machine. The improvements when switching from Intel to Apple Silicon have been insane. With the cheapest new Airs below the 1k mark it sort of levelled the used market. The difference in computing power and battery life between an old intel mac and the new ones with Apple silicon is unfair. :)
If you intend to sell, get rid of the old ones as quickly as possible or as long as they still have a bit of market.

With used M1 Macbooks already available to buy second hand, buying an used Intel machine makes very little "financial" sense, unless you have a specific use for it.

My two cents and IMHO of course ;)

Looking on eBay, I can sell my 15” for around £300-450. Comes with original box and everyfink. Including unused stickers. :D
