For anyone that’s got one - is the M4 worth it?

I’m a business user mainly, maybe a bit of website design but mainly emails, word and Excel.

Is the M2 good enough - I’ve read a lot of reports that say it is but there’s nothing like hearing from real life.

Thanks

Tom

I have an M1 MacBook Air (first time I didn't buy a Pro because the Air was good enough for my needs)

I do all the 'office' stuff, emails etc but also graphic design, page layout, video and audio editing...

My only 'limitation' is the 'small' (500GB) hard drive but I don't really store any data on it, that all gets archived off to the NAS on a daily basis so it's really not an issue.

So, I would suggest that the M2 will be more than capable of doing what you want.

M2 will be perfectly fine.

With an M4 you will "future-proof" having a more powerful machine that will last longer. Just consider that against the price difference, but definitely not needed.

My MacBook Air is the last of the Intel based ones and it does everything you are looking for and a lot more besides. An M2 will have no problem.

Thanks all. Did some looking around and ended up ordering an M4 from the refurb store as it seemed best value for money. Arrives Friday.

Update. I actually ended up with an M2 with 1Tb hard disc and the larger amount of RAM. (Need reading glasses….)

I did think about sending it back, but ended up trying it and it’s staying. Way way faster than I expected and knocks socks of the windows PC that I had.

Very happy and aside from working out how to do things differently it’s been an easy change.
