I like to keep a filter on the shelf and when fitted order a replacement to keep in 'stock'.

So I have just fitted a new oil filter and when the replacement arrived I noticed a different Mahle part number.

I used a OC 91 D1
The new one is OC 91.

It seems I have fitted one designed for the K series.
Does anyone know the difference. I haven't started the bike yet.
Thank you.

If I remember correctly (and not always), oil filters either filter oil flow FROM the sump to the engine parts or on the RETURN to the sump from the engine.
One type has a non-return valve incorporated.

I've been fitting the same filter to the R and K series for 25 years and never had a problem.

25 years out of the same filter, proper value for money :thumb

Thanks Doc, I have a feeling it may also include a large thin o-ring for the filter cover on the K's as I've just found one in the old box. Filters are both the same then.
