Main beam conversion

Touratech are advertising a main beam HID conversion for the GS1150, it is a direct replacment using original fittings. Text below taken from USA site.

Lovely idea (been trying engineer summat similar meself for the past 12 months) but a very expensive solution, I fear!

If I remember correctly there was an article (complete with photos on doing a conversion for this on the adventurer site.

I knw the dipped headlights ars shit but Are all yr main beams fcuked or wot ? mine seams ok .

I did a conversion of both beams for about $400 total and a few hours of time. I did not take photos as I went, but am very happy w/ the results. If you can get ones with 20"+ leads, you can mount the balasts under the tank, which is much better than in the beak area since the balasts are large. The only thing mounted in the beak area is the ignitor, which you can see in the photo on the right:
