On todays ride, I was suffering quite a lot with touching the main stand down in "compression dips" and over small jumps....
I've got the pre-load on full and although better with the damping turned up some more, it didn't eradicate it....:(
NOw I accept that the GSA is softly sprung and under damped as stock but I've not noticed it previous
does anyone else suffer with this? or should I just eat less pies....;)

Me too today, with ESA:mad:

Plus the ASC Traction cut in loads of times over ridges and every time I got the GSA 'airborne'................fecking thing

There must be some thing you guys drink in the water up in the top of the world.

Why don't you just turn the ESA off.:eek

For the other rider just remove the stand for hard riding.:nenau

How easy was that:clap

I always have the impression that the centre stand bounces up and down a bit on its springs so gives the impression it is easily grounded.

Could experiment by tying it up with a bit of string temporarily while you ride the same bit of road.

Funners?

Not the same Funner of Supermoto fame? Used to travel up to Crail for trackdays with )cough) dodgy (cough) leathers?

:)
Errmm could be !:D who are you ?

Nope this was deffo hard down..... not just a quick bounce down
I suppose that removing the stand is one answer but TBH having a main stand after years of Sports bikes is still extremely useful...

If youv'e got full pre load on and its still scraping you are in need of a new shock !!

Well the ASC will operate if your "airborne" - but I'm sure you know this. :D

With the ESA you can easily increase the damping to "Sport" on the move if you have the inclination - but I'm sure you know this. :D

If it's on full preload and it's still scraping you need to eat less pies, oh, and you should've bought the far superior and lithe vanilla GS rather than the wannabe version :thumb

It must be the bounce effect. i had a look at my R1200GS. the pegs are well worn, the RH mainstand is untouched and the only touch on the lefy hand is the extension arm.

Hmmmnnnnn:nenau GS ? superior ?
Well, to be fair...I test rode the GS and it felt like a mini moto TBH:moped:
so the Adv it was....;)

:augie well I've had a long hard think about how to rectify the issue of grounding the main stand down in "compression" dips at reasonably moderate speeds....
I decided that I could...

a) Eat less pies....

b) remove the main stand....OK but then whats next to touch down ?

d) what happened to c) ??

e) slow down....yeah right...:D

f) buy some Wilbers shocks sprung for my lightweight frame and allow some proper adjustments to be made...

so I said F-it.....

Give the damping screw a tweek just a bit.
been there , done that, whilst it helps, I'm only approx 1/4 turn from Max.....which is crap...
as my last bike had Full Ohlins on it, I'm finding this budget No adjustment front and "damping" adjustment rear a bit piss poor TBH....
Wilbers it is....;)

Go by the handle 'Thumper650' I do!! Still have the old tractor with her fat wheels on. You still tarding?

:beerjug: Hello mate, I figured it might be you when I clocked the "Yurakokk" tag line....:D
I sold up late last year mate, I got sooo fed up with all the knob heads who seem to populate SM these days, it just wasn't fun anymore... I think I'd ridden it once in 12 months !:( also it seems if it wasn't a KTM or an Aprilia it wasn't worth sh*t..
However...the Bimmer is rather like an upscale Tard in most respects...
excpet it don't jump that well..:augie
