Hello All:
Garmin has recently released a major (4.50 to 5.00) software update for the 27xx series of GPSRs. This software update includes a number of enhancements provided specifically for European users, and specifically for motorcycle users, which means it's worth getting if you frequent this forum.
The easiest way to get it is to use the Garmin WebUpdater application. Be sure to pay attention to the message that will say "There may be further updates available..." after you have finished the first download. The 'further updates' will be voice software improvements. In other words, you will be making two update cycles, the first to update the unit software, the second to update the voices. I have been using the new software (5.0) for some time now and it is both stable and significantly better than the previous release.
If you want to read the details about what the update changes, you can view them here: StreetPilot 2720 software version 5.00 - list of changes.
There is also a new update out for the 276 (version 4.10), including updated voice software. This update is not as significant as the 27xx update, it's a minor one, rather than a major revision. Get it the same way, by using the WebUpdater, and expect to get a voice update as well - meaning, pay attention to the prompt you will see after the first update is complete.
