Making my dodgy XP Pro legal?

I have an unlicensed copy of XP Pro on my home PC. I have gone to the windows website and it tells me to buy a licence. OK, so it interrogated my system and it has led me to the "buy here" page for XP pro and I have bought what it suggested which is the XP Pro licence for an existing operating system at 90 something quid. My question is "Have I bought the right thing?". I've not used the key yet so I can change if I need to. Why is it that a box fresh copy of XP is more like £200 and the license I have bought is only £90?

At a rough guess I would say,,,It's the difference between having a copy(of XP) already and not having one. A boxed version you get a Windows copy of XP.(Brand new).£200.With full backup from Mr Gates.
A copy copy you get is just a copy.Cost negotiable.No comeback, no extras.

Does that make any sense or am I talking thru my ass.Answers on a postcard to usual address.

EDIT Also a Brand new in the wrapper legal OEM version of Windows XP Home edition inc. service pack 2 with serial/licence No. for £64.63 inc vat.
