Making sure we're all safe ;-)

Watch any Talking Head from Police Scotland just now and it's only a matter of seconds before they say the words "keeping people safe". If you're really bored, amuse yourself further by counting the number of times they say it.

Good idea....be good to see some 'routine preventative patrol' going on....like it used to be....

Shame it's only for 3 days.

Scottish Police, they dont do themselves any favours do they.

We are Scottish police. We dont like bikers and now we have an opportunity to nick you for the smallest fucking thing we can find, such as indicators that arent orange enough or incorrectly placed tax discs.......

We are Scottish Police. You bikers are a good way for us to make money.

We are Scottish Police. We cant catch any real villains like burglars etc etc etc blah blah blah, but fuck it you bikers will do instead.

We are Scottish Police. Your safety is our concern.:augie:loopy:bobby:tarka:tosser:popcorn

Nope no axe to grind at all. Scottish Police took it off me while they were nicking me for not having orange enough indicators and an incorrectly positioned tax disc.:thumby:

Police in Scotland

What a load of bollocks................just you stay in the south east so we can take full use of these quiet and stunning roads , mountains......The only Scottish Police I`ve met have been just as interested in road safety as enforcement, but hey we ave a lot in common.

Shinyface ;)

ps just get some better indicators;)................

I'm afraid I find this very hard to believe....there will be more to it!! I'm not sure how they measured 'orangeness', or the evidence they used to support 'nicking' you....unless you've been had over.......

I honestly believe i pissed of a certain member of the constabulary by pointing out that sidelights might be insufficiently illuminating at 11 at night, after i had just been very nearly involved in a SMIDSY by aforementioned officer pulling out from a side street straight in front of me. In all honesty I was not a polite person that night, and I think I questioned his parentage, after he had nearly tried to kill me.

Ironically if I HAD been speeding as opposed to doing just under 30, I have a nasty feeling i would have been visiting the high side of my handle bars, followed by the road, closely followed by hospital.

There you go.....

Grampian Police via Police Scotland

During the weekend’s Motorcycle Awareness Initiative a total of 629 road users were detected for speeding of which 39 were motorcyclists. A further 47 were detected for dangerous or careless driving and 139 were found to be using their vehicles without a valid licence or insurance. There were also 129 offences in relation to the maintenance of vehicles, eight of which were found on motorcycles.

All of these drivers received either a conditional offer of fixed penalty or were reported for summons and some had their vehicles seized.

These included a 19-yr-old man who was detected, in the Aberdeenshire area, riding an unregistered moped on a road with no ‘L’ plates and no insurance. He was carrying a 13-yr old-pillion passenger and neither the rider nor the pillion passenger was wearing a helmet.

So looks like the cars had a much higher hit rate than the bikes :)

I seen a couple of cop bikes while coming back from Glencoe yesterday. All they did was give me a friendly wave then fucked off sharpish.

Aaaah! I thought there might be a bit more too it! Don't forget every job has its fair share of pricks! I remember being in the motorway office one Christmas morning when one of our keener colleagues came in proudly boasting and waving his fixed penalty book....he'd got a speeder on Christmas morning....so we set about him and destroyed his book.....so if you were travelling on the A1(M) in about 1990, and thought you had got done for speeding and are still waiting for a speeding summons.....relax.....
