Adventure Trail Riding & the TRF are pleased to announce the 'Manx Dakar' on the weekend of the 25th & 26th of October 2014. 4* Hotel Dinner, Bed & Breakfast or camping options, limited to 100 riders. please register you interest at www.adventuretrailriding.co.uk or [email protected] or [email protected].

It would be great to have the big GS's there in numbers.

The event with be a light heated orienteering event with small teams of 2 to 5 working together trail riding around the Island, we may score one or two of the hill 'as a trial' but the event is just fun based. For those who don't like this idea we will offer two days guided trail riding for all abilities on all trail, enduro & adventure bikes. The second day of the Manx Dakar weekend will be guided trail riding.

We are also running a two day trail riding weekend at the end of September & November for those that can't make the Manx Dakar. We have run two of theses trips already in March & April with 68 riders taking part

Booking now being taken for the Manx DAKAR. £ 299.00 Hotel option & £ 175.00 camping option, including return ferry crossing

Not sure if you're actually based in the Isle of Man, but the people I stopped with during TT home stay (bike fans) were saying that it's these large organised trips from the mainland that are threatening a lot of the off road routes on the Island as people are getting a bit fed up of large numbers at all hours.

Only got talking to them about it as I noticed from the map just how many open trails there are compared to Yorkshire....hope it stays that way.

There's some bloody english git moved over here who likes his countryside walks. He's found a number of trails which have been damaged by motorcycles and has started a campaign. Government don't have the funds to repair these damaged bits and Mr pisspot keeps taking piccies and getting them published in the local rag. The letters pages are polarised between pro bike and anti bike rants. A user group has been formed to try and work on the trails to improve some of the damaged bits but as far as I can see, tw@tfeatures won't engage with it.

The government is broadly pro-motorcycling but we have an election approaching and our system of independents won't want to disenfranchise any voters on either side of the argument.

Saga is quite correct in his observation that large organised groups are having an effect on public opinion but as things stand, we're open for business. The only law enforcement mileage is that the riders need to make sure that all the bikes are road legal, taxed and insured. This is the latest argument coming from the anti camp. They claim that many off roaders are not road legal and our police watch out for off road bikes travelling in groups, so they can make checks.
