Maplins and the 2610

The SO and I trundled down to Maplins in MK today to look at the 2610, the plan being to touch it, play with it, understand it, then get a cheaper deal on the internet. Everythin went OK until I asked how much it was the sales chap told me GBP550. Apparently all of the stores are keeping to the March offer price.

That is a problem because we had agreed to go and visit my son for the evening, so I could have been in bed now instead of sitting here loading maps into a 2610.

BTW is anyone aware of the potential issue with Windows XP sp2 and the Garmin interface?

I have XP + SPII and not had any problems with the Garmin interface.

Likewise.....though on a Quest (same softyware though)......No difference noted 'tween sp1 and sp2.

Yup. My SPIII has stopped talking to the computer. Garmin just trotted out a standard response, but I'd never had a problem before.
